PUMC Green Team

Formed in October of 2012, the PUMC Green Team has adopted the following as our Mission Statement to convey the intention and focus of this new small group:

“Educate and encourage ideas about how to live greener, and together act in ways that will lead all to become better stewards of God’s creation.”

Needle Arts Ministry

Our mission is to create items of support and comfort to all who are in need. We make prayer squares and hats in addition to traditional prayer shawls. Some of us knit, but others crochet, embroider, do lace work and sew. All community people are welcome to join us, even if you don’t know how to knit, we’ll teach you! Prayer shawls are available in the church office. If you have a loved one, a friend or a neighbor who could use one, please feel free to stop in and pick one out. They can be given to those who are hurting, having surgery, or experiencing changes in their daily lives, as well as given during those happy occasions such as the birth of a baby.

Meeting Date/Time: 2nd Monday of each month at 9:30AM to 11:00AM
Meeting Location: Parks Friendship Hall

Jwel

JWEL (Justice through Witness, Equality and Love) is a social justice-centered group that focuses on putting our faith in action by mobilizing the congregation to reach out to all our neighbors with love and radical hospitality. Projects include participation in the CROP Hunger Walk, involvement with Northern Illinois JFON (Justice for Our Neighbors) and RMN (Reconciling Ministries Network), hosting prayer stations, small group studies, and more! We also have a Facebook group in addition to our e-mail list for communication and planning. We’d love for you to join us!
