Location: Grande Park Pavilion — Grande Park Boulevard
On the last Sunday in September (9/30) PUMC will be hosting a worship service and potluck picnic at the pavilion in Grande Park. This is the date of the Plainfield Harvest 5K Run when parking is always a challenge at the church, so we gather offsite to enjoy what we hope will be a beautiful fall day! This is also a chance to get to know each other better since there will be just one worship service, at 10:00 AM.
The service will start at 10:00 AM with a potluck picnic to follow. Except in case of rain (see below) there will be no worship services, Sunday School, or any other activities at the church that morning! Childcare will be available at the park during the worship service.
Here’s the schedule:
9:00 AM – 10:00 AM Setup (the more, the merrier!)
10:00 AM – 11:00 AM Worship Service
11:00 AM – 2:30 PM Picnic
Grande Park is easy to access from PUMC and there is plenty of parking! Take Lockport Street (Rte 126) west out of downtown to Ridge Road, which is about three miles. Turn right/north on Ridge and follow it about two miles to 135th Street (Paydon Road). Turn right/east on 135th and take the first left onto Grande Park Blvd. The park entrance will be on your left.
Need a ride? If it would be easier for you to have a ride to the park that morning, we have volunteers who would gladly pick you up at home! Simply call the church office ahead of time (by Wednesday the 26th or earlier) to let them know.
In case of rain
In case of rain, a note will be posted on the PUMC website and Facebook page by 8:00am that Sunday morning. We will also send an email note via Constant Contact. Those without a computer can call the church office that morning, or have a friend check and give you a call. In that case, we will simply move the service back to the church (race traffic should improve by later in the morning) and have an indoor potluck picnic instead.
What to Bring
- Folding/lawn chairs
- Potluck dish to share, with serving utensils and any needed condiments
- Soft drinks if desired, but no alcohol, please
- Yourself! If you don’t bring anything else, at least bring this!
The church will provide:
- Fried chicken
- Tea, lemonade, water, and ice
- Paper plates, plastic utensils, plastic cups
- Extra tables and chairs
- Picnic/outdoor game equipment
We hope to have a great turnout!
This is a wonderful chance for those who attend our two worship services at different times to get to know each other better. It will be a welcoming and fun event with games and shared activities for all ages!! Feel free to bring friends!
