Confirmation is open to all 8th graders and is the continuation of a young person’s lifelong faith journey. The full commitment for the confirmation process involves Sunday morning classes at 9:45 am from September 11 to May 20 and several other activities, such as a retreat, service project, and visits to places of Christian worship beyond our own Methodist tradition, as well as Jewish and Islamic places of worship. We continue this year with the “Credo” curriculum from Cokesbury, which consists of three units: “Know Your Story,” “Confirm Your Faith,” and “Live Your Commitment” (visit credoconfirmation.com for more information). Confirmation taps into the roots of Christian faith and tradition and sprouts forth new life as Christians living in 21st century North America.
Confirmation is also the time when the church celebrates with young people their God-given gifts as they become full members of the church and helps them realize their gifts in service to God, the church, the world, and to their future selves. Confirmation forms your spiritual journey to weather the seasons of life.
Please contact Pastor Chris Walters with questions. Confirmation Sunday will be May 20, 2012.
Gatherings are every Sunday morning at 9:45 in the parsonage on the west side of the church building.
