Being a parent of a teen is rewarding, exciting, and challenging. The rewards of parenting teenagers can far outweigh the challenges. With skills and understanding, you can guide your teen to be responsible, cooperative, and independent while building a strong and positive relationship with your teen. There are always more effective ways to get along with and help your teen. If you are interested in a practical approach to help you parent and nurture your teenager, we have two opportunities to help you find the skills and ideas you need.
- The first opportunity is Kinect – Parents of Teens hosted by Sheri Martin, where groups of parents meet for fellowship and to discuss their successes and challenges in raising teens.
Meeting Date/Time: The second Monday of each month.
Meeting Location: Martin home or the church
Contact: For more information, contact the church office at (815) 436-9651 or via email.
- The second option is the Parenting Teens class taught by Ken and Pat Decker, church members and Plainfield school educators.
Meeting Date/Time: Sessions would be offered in the fall and spring during Sunday School, though there is not presently a class scheduled.
Meeting Location: Church offices
Contact: For more information and to express interest in getting a class scheduled, contact the church office at (815) 436-9651 or via email.
