Lent2015Most of us have at some point felt like a nobody – insignificant, invisible, worthless and long for Gospel hospitality. The Gospel of Matthew is a first century portrait of Jesus with a particular focus on his ministry of God’s welcoming for everyone. This Lent, join us as we read through the Gospel of Matthew together. Each week, we’ll turn our attention to specific stories that illustrate God’s welcoming in Jesus for everyone, and as we do, we’ll hear his word for our lives today.

palms icon Experiential Prayer – Set aside a few minutes each week to engage in prayerful reflection. A new prayer station will be featured each week in the sanctuary from Sunday afternoon to Thursday evening. Visit when you are in the building. Stay as long (or short) as you would like. Center yourself in the God who is calling you to offer hospitality to a gospel-hungry world.

supper icon Men’s Breakfast at Southern Belle’s Restaurant, every Wed. at 8:15 am (starting 2/18) – Come for a short devotional followed by time to eat and socialize. All men are welcome!

ash icon Women’s Book Group – Join us in February as we read Isaac’s Storm: A Man, a Time, and the Deadliest Hurricane in History by Eric Larson. We will meet Feb. 19 at 7:00 pm in room 205 to discuss. Please join us!

palms icon PUMC will offer a God and Me class for 1st – 3rd graders. We will meet four Thursdays, Feb. 19 – Mar. 12, 6:00 – 7:15 pm. Children who complete the program are eligible for credit through the Boy and Girl Scout organizations. Children must register by Feb. 16. hammer nails icon The Lay Academy will take place on the five Sundays of Lent beginning Feb. 22 – Mar. 22, 2:30 – 5:30 pm at Plainfield UMC. Courses prepare you to be a Lay Servant within the UMC by leading Christian small groups, faith sharing, and worship. Fee: $35 includes books and refreshments ($40 after Feb. 15).
