Are you interested in becoming a member of Plainfield United Methodist Church? Through membership, you join with the rest of the congregation in pledging to support the church with your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service, and your witness. We welcome all people who sincerely seek to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ so that we can be a part of transforming the world!
Those interested in joining are encouraged to participate in a New Member Class. These classes are held periodically throughout the year. They consist of four meetings: at the first, you will have a chance to get to know the clergy staff of the church and meet others who are interested in becoming members; the second meeting focuses on the history of Christianity to see how we arrived as Methodists from the early church, and we talk about United Methodist history, beliefs, and practices; the third meeting focuses on the Christian spiritual gifts, Stewardship, and UMC membership vows; the final meeting focuses on ministries of this local congregation and how you can become an active member of our church family. Once you complete the class, the staff will work with you to find a date on which you can come before the congregation to join.
Want to be baptized? If you are not already baptized, you can do this when you join the church.
During each school year from early fall to late spring we host a Confirmation Class for 8th graders. We also have adult confirmation classes to meet the needs of people who are joining the church after the age of youth confirmation.
